  • 4. Arroz y tartana (Blasco Ibáñez)

    Blasco Ibáñez is one of the most important names of the Valencian and Spanish literature. In this classic novel, he portrays the early 20th-century Valencia in which appearances and status played a big role.

  • 5. Inquisitio (Alfred Bosch)

    If you ever wanted to learn more about the Spanish Inquisition, this novel is an excellent place to start. It tells the story of the last ‘heretic’ in the 19th-century Valencia.

  • 6. Noruega (Rafa Lahuerta)

    This contemporary novel is a love letter to the city of Valencia, narrated by a protagonist whose life from the 1980s onwards takes place around the Mercado Central and later on in the barrio of Pilar.
